September 28, 2007 Customers an Optimal Maintenance Solution Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces the release of the Lifecycle Management Program, an integrated package of solution services that optimizes maintenance by tailoring it to the customer's equipment lifecycle. This program meets diverse needs by creating a lifecycle plan for each customer's system, and based on it, selects and combines the most suitable services from a variety of options. Users want to cut maintenance costs as much as possible in order to reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO). On the other hand, the reduction in maintenance costs can lead to unexpected equipment failures, and the increased equipment downtime can lead to production losses and a decrease in the return on assets (ROA). Accordingly, it is necessary to minimize maintenance costs without incurring production losses. In other words, a maintenance plan that is able to achieve an optimal balance between TCO and ROA is the ideal solution. Yokogawa's Lifecycle Management Program consists of proprietary services such as the industry's first Condition Based Maintenance (CBM)* program and an Alarm Rationalization Service (ARS)*. These are flexibly combined under the Lifecycle Management Program to ensure that maintenance is tailored to each customer's equipment conditions and requirements, and achieves a proper balance between TCO and ROA. Specific services provided under the Lifecycle Management Program are as follows: ・Service & Support ・Maintenance Management ・Operator Effectiveness ・Inventory Management ・Migration Support ・Safety Improvement ・Productivity Improvement "With a conventional maintenance service, the customer was given a selection of necessary programs from a packaged service menu. This was only a semi-tailored service," said Satoru Kurosu, Yokogawa Senior Vice President and Head of the IA Business Headquarters. "In contrast, the Lifecycle Management Program is a fully tailored service that provides the customer with an optimal maintenance plan from the long-term perspective of the equipment lifecycle. It aims to respond to customer-specific needs while keeping in mind that the customer is unique." Yokogawa's Lifecycle Management Program aims to provide the customer Asset Reliability, Asset Availability, Asset Predictability, and Asset Performance, thereby achieving the VigilantPlant vision of operational excellence. * Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) * Alarm Rationalization Service (ARS) For more information, please contact About Yokogawa Yokogawa's global network of 18 manufacturing facilities, 84 companies, and over 650 sales and engineering offices spans 33 countries.
