New I/O subsystem for high-capacity, high-speed communication
The I/O subsystem has been renewed and enhanced to fully support FOUNDATION fieldbus. The capacity and speed of the fieldbus-to-system connections have been improved to handle increasing amounts of communication data and expand the number of connectable devices per fieldbus segment H1.

Two types of FOUNDATION fieldbus bus interface: local and remote nodes
A fieldbus can be connected to either an I/O unit directly connected to a field control unit or to a remote node connected to a field control unit via an enhanced remote bus (duplexed Ethernet). This allows the field network distribution to match a plant's configuration. Particularly for a plant that covers a wide area, the use of remote nodes widens the range of FOUNDATION fieldbus applications.

Brand-new FOUNDATION™ interface module
The newly developed ALF111 module offers excellent cost performance and is highly reliable. Each module can connect to up to four fieldbus segments H1. It is also the first such interface to allow duplexed fieldbus configurations. Thanks to our decades of DCS duplexing expertise, switching is completely bump-less, even for FOUNDATION fieldbus.

Seamless integration of FOUNDATION fieldbus engineering into system generation functions
The engineering functions of the CENTUM CS 3000 R3 can integrate the control functions implemented in each Field Control Station (FCS) and in each of the field devices connected via FOUNDATION fieldbus. This enables engineers to create and connect them within the same control drawing, as shown below.
Engineering is further simplified with the automatic scheduling of each fieldbus segment H1 and with a multi-scheduling function which allows a mixture of different execution cycles. For even greater engineering efficiency, fieldbus engineering can be performed even without field devices. Of course, plug and play functions are also available.

Integrated operation and monitoring independent of function location
The operation and monitoring functions (HIS functions) of the CENTUM CS 3000 R3 handle control functions in an integrated manner regardless of whether they reside in the system's control station or in a field device connected via FOUNDATION fieldbus. As is the case with the functional block implemented inside each control station, there is a tuning window for each function block implemented inside a field device. This gives users the ability to tune control parameters via an HIS. These CENTUM CS 3000 R3 operation and monitoring functions enable control functions distributed among field devices to be handled with the same ease. The data displayed on the screen of a Yokogawa device and a foreign device are exactly the same.
