For SMARTDAC+ GX/GP series, I want to set a range on previously unused channels and begin to use them. Aside from changing the range, what other settings should I modify?

Other than changing the range, check the display groups and channels set for recording. In the user's manual, see sections 1.10.2, "Setting Display Groups" and 1.12.2, “Configuring Recording Channels."
