| Q&A for the basic specifications |
| Q1: |
What is the US300PM? |
| A: |
The US300PM is a portable ultrasonic flowmeter for measuring liquid flow, and can be operated using the AC power supply or batteries. It is suited for various purposes, including maintenance and inspection work, experiments in laboratories, and monitoring production lines. |
|
| Q2: |
What is the measurement principle of the US300PM? |
| A: |
The transit-time method is used. |
|
| Q3: |
What are the advantages of the US300PM? |
| A: |
One advantage is ease of installation: clamp-on transducers are used for installation on the outside of the pipe. Setup is also quick and easy because the transducers have no zero offset. High accuracy is realized (1% of reading). Two channels (two-path) are available for the flow volume input, and the flow volume for the two channels can be added to or subtracted from each other, or an average can be calculated. |
|
| Q4: |
What do I need to consider when I order the US300PM? |
| A: |
It is necessary to have a main electronics unit and transducers. Different transducer are available depending on pipe size and fluid temperature. Please see the list comparing the ultrasonic flowmeter models. |
|
| Q5: |
Are there any reference materials for the US300PM? |
| A: |
Catalogs, general specifications, and drawings can be downloaded from our website.

|
| Q&A for the product |
| Q1: |
What accessories will I need for the transducers? |
| A: |
Fixing hardware and couplants (necessary for ultrasonic propagation between the pipe and the transducers) are available as accessories for transducer installation. Magnets can be used for attaching to pipes made of steel and other materials that have strong magnet-attracting properties. Fixing chains are available for pipes which cannot be secured with magnets. The fixed-type can be installed with a stainless-steel strap (a belt-like metal part). Couplants are available for general temperature and high temperature types. We also have a weatherproof adhesive type of couplant available for the fixed-type. |
|
| Q2: |
Is the user free to define any flow range for the optional 4-20mA current output, or can it only be selected from a menu? |
| A: |
It is completely user definable and is not selected from a menu. |
|
| Q3: |
We have created a data log, but when we transfer it with the US300SA Data Transfer Software, we get the message "Receive-Time-Out." What causes this? |
| A: |
It could be a problem with the PC settings. Please check the setting for the serial port. |
|
| Q4: |
Does the flowmeter have a built-in power supply for the optional current output? How do we connect equipment to the flowmeter? |
| A: |
The power supply is built-in. The current output jack on the rear panel of the flowmeter requires a banana plug. |
|
| Q5: |
When using the wall thickness probe of the US300PM, should the pipe be filled with water? I would like to measure it when the pipe is empty. |
| A: |
It does not matter whether there are fluids in the pipe: this measurement can be performed when it is empty or filled. |
|
| Q6: |
When using the wall thickness probe of the US300PM, is a couplant necessary? |
| A: |
Couplants must always be used. There are two types of couplants available for general temperature and high temperature use, so depending on the pipe temperature please use them accordingly. |
|
| Q7: |
There are two input channels, channel A and channel B. How do we use them? |
| A: |
They are used for two-path measurement, which is done by calculating the average flow for two measurement paths in a single pipe. The two channels also enable two measurements to be made in two separate pipes with a single meter. It is also possible to conduct addition/subtraction on two flow volume inputs. |
|
| Q8: |
In general, how do we select the mounting fixture and the fixing chain?
|
| A: |
As for the hardware, Mounting Fixture Standard Type is generally recommended. Please select a fixing chain (from three available kinds) whose length is appropriate to the pipe size |
|
| Q9: |
What are the minimum requirements when placing a purchase order? |
| A: |
At the minimum, an ultrasonic flowmeter (the main electronics unit), transducers, fixing hardware, and couplants need to be ordered. |
|
| Q&A for the application |
| Q1: |
Is measurement possible with pipes made of Teflon or fluorine resin? |
| A: |
Measurement is possible providing the pipe is made of a single homogeneous material. |
|
| Q2: |
When using only one input, can we only use channel A? |
| A: |
Either channel A or B can be used. |
