[Vortex Flowmeters] What is the required straight pipe length?

In the case of vortex flowmeters, swirling flow and uneven distribution of flow velocity in the piping can affect the measurement. These can be caused by upstream piping conditions, valves, pumps, misaligned joints, protruding weld burrs, or other obstructions. Rectification is therefore an important issue in piping design, and there is a need to adhere to the required straight pipe length.
(Reference: JIS Z8766 Explanation) Since the required straight pipe length varies depending on the piping design, install correctly according to the instruction manual. It is also effective to install a flow straightening plate upstream to straighten the flow in the piping. This is available as a TOKUCHU. Please contact our sales person.
