OpreX™ Control of Work ― Field Assistant

Field Assistant is the core mobile capability within OpreX Control of Work, enabling the digital execution and management of field operations across risk assessment, permit to work, operator rounds, and day to day operations management tasks in process plants.

OpreX Control of Work Field Assistant enhances safety, reliability, and operational efficiency by enabling seamless, real time field information to be transferred and shared to plant teams. It bridges field execution and desktop applications, ensuring that point of work information can be collected, tasks can be executed and verified, and that all information can be clearly communicated back to enable safer work execution, improved situational awareness, decision making, and continuous operational improvement across the plant.

 

Designed for the realities of the field

The solution integrates directly with Yokogawa’s OpreX Control of Work software application and allows its extension to be used on mobile devices, with a clear, intuitive, easy-to-use interface that has been specifically designed to work on smaller mobile screens, rather than simply being a copy of the desktop version.

The mobile application is designed to be able to operate offline during field activities, enabling uninterrupted work in hazardous or remote plant areas, with secure synchronization once network connectivity is available.

Field Assistant is the central hub for mobile activity. Rather than having multiple applications for each task type, Yokogawa’s Field Assistant app enables a single point of access to all OpreX Control of Work Modules, ensuring that user ease of access is paramount. It also means that as new modules are added in the future by plant teams, these modules will also automatically appear in mobile format if Field Assistant has been contracted.

Some of the current modules available to augment standard desktop access, by allowing field mobile use are:

  • Permit to work ― carry out job hazard assessments (JHA’s), launch permits, ensure preparatory works and area checks are done correctly, issue and audit in the field
  • Isolation Procedures ― record isolation steps in real time including the ability to take photos to confirm LOTO application
  • Operator Driven Reliability (ODR) ― activities so that operator rounds can be allocated to mobile users and data recorded in the field in real time, with automatic notifications where data is ‘out of range’ to drive immediate investigation
  • Field Standard Operating Procedures (FSOP) ― augments simple work instructions and allows users to confirm standard operating procedure activities in real time in the field, including the ability to sequence steps between field and panel operators
  • Incident Management ― Log incidents, observations or near-misses and send for investigation and corrective actions or improvement procedures

  • Offline mode is designed to ensure that multiple source data entries cannot happen, which could cause errors in the data collected
