What is OPC (Open Platform Communications)？
OPC is the interoperability standard that enables the secure and reliable exchange of data in the industrial automation sector. It consists of OPC Classic, introduced in 1996 and based on Microsoft Windows technology, and OPC UA(OPC Unified Architecture) released in 2008 as the next-generation OPC technology.

OPC UA, standardized internationally in 2018 under IEC 62541, enhances interoperability through platform independence, robust security features, and comprehensive information modeling.

What is Exaopc？
Exaopc is YOKOGAWA’s OPC server software designed for CENTUM production control system(PCS). It provides a seamless interface for exchanging data between CENTUM and OPC client applications, supporting efficient data utilization and driving productivity improvements across your operations.

YOKOGAWA original functions

  2. Equalization of CENTUM tag lists by Exaopc, enabling online updates of function block information
  3. Detailed security settings for clients
  4. Control of data access volume to prevent excessive loads on CENTUM field control stations (FCSs)
  5. Virtual test functions for engineering and testing of OPC clients (does not require the use of an actual FCS)
  6. Multiple project connection function for handling of CENTUM project data on Exaopc
  7. Various viewer tools and functions for monitoring of Exaopc operation status
  8. Enhanced IT security functions that allow users to select the optimum security level
