What is the OPC Server?

OPC is an open interface standard for accessing process and factory automation data. OPC provides a seamless interface for exchanging data between a process control system (PCS) and a manufacturing execution system (MES).

Yokogawa's Exaopc interface package is compliant with the OPC standards. Exaopc works in association with a variety of OPC tools with client applications such as the Exaquantum plant information management system (PIMS), the Exapilot operation efficiency improvement package, and general-purpose OPC-compliant applications. By interfacing with Yokogawa's CENTUM VP, CENTUM CS 3000, and CENTUM CS production control systems, Exaopc provides additional functions for enhanced productivity.

Main features

  1. Exaopc interfaces with Yokogawa's CENTUM VP, CENTUM CS 3000, and CENTUM CS production control systems (PCS).
  2. Exaopc consists of a common user interface layer and an I/O cassette layer. The I/O cassette layer supports a wide range of PCS interface software, thus minimizing the number of changes that need to be made to PCS programs and reducing maintenance cost.
  3. Exaopc complies with OPC specifications such as DA, AE, HDA, security, and batch. It is DA3 certified as well.
  4. Exaopc has strengthened IT security functions.

Original Yokogawa functions

  1. Automatic saving and storage of process data acquired by the DA server in a historical database (HDA). Access to stored data is enabled by an HDA server function
  2. Equalization of CENTUM tag lists by Exaopc, enabling online updates of function block information
  3. Connection with CENTUM systems via VI702/VF702 cards and V net communication.
  4. Detailed security settings for clients
  5. Control of data access volume to prevent excessive loads on CENTUM field control stations (FCSs)
  6. Virtual test functions for engineering and testing of OPC clients (does not require the use of an actual FCS)
  7. Multiple project connection function for handling of CENTUM project data on Exaopc
  8. Various viewer tools and functions for monitoring of Exaopc operation status
  9. Enhanced IT security functions that allow users to select the optimum security level
