Connection to a Process Control Duplex DCS Using a Signal Conditioner

Depending on the importance of the process control system, individual isolation, duplexing, or other measures may be needed to increase its reliability. The D series signal conditioners offers DCS supporting input/output nests for connecting to upstream DCS input/output modules. Here we show examples of connecting a D series signal conditioner with a DCS (Yokogawa CENTUM) FIO (field network I/O) module for configurations that either have individually isolated channels, or are duplex systems.

The figure below shows an example of connecting the upstream DCS, a 16-ch FIO module (Ai 16, Ao 16, Ai 8/Ao 8) with a D series duplexing nest. By using the D series duplexing nest, it is possible to connect to the upstream DCS in the same way as connecting to the terminal board to create a duplex system. And with the signal conditioner, we increase isolation between channels and ease of maintenance.

JUXTA D Series Duplexing Nest

Please specify DCE-3☐*A/Z or DCP-3☐*A/Z for model of the JUXTA D series duplexing nest that supports each of the Yokogawa CENTUM's FIO modules.

Models and names of duplexing nests Input/outputs Yokogawa CENTUM FIO module to be connected
DCE-3☐*A/Z Nest for I/O cards
DCP-3☐*A/Z Nest for I/O cards (E/P mixed mounting type)
Ai 16 Analog input module
AAV141/K4A00 (ATK4A Adapter) x 2
Ao 16 Analog output module
AAV542/K4A00 (ATK4A Adapter) x 2
Ai 8/Ao 8 Analog input/output module
AAB841/K4A00 (ATK4A Adapter) x 2

Aside from the above, we also have a duplexing nest that combines the voltage input module SAV144 (Ai 16) for the safety measuring system ProSafe-RS and the D series.
