Dissolved Oxygen Sensors

Dissolved oxygen (DO) is a liquid process measurement for determining the amount of oxygen dissolved or carried in the process liquid. There are three common technologies for dissolved oxygen measurements: polographic, galvanic and optical. The standard units of measure are milligrams per liter (mg/l), parts per million (ppm), parts per billion (ppb), or % saturation.

Dissolved Oxygen Sensors Advantages of Different Measurement Methods

Optical Type

  • Quick response time
  • Short warm-up time
  • Long term stable measurement
  • Easy maintenance
  • Safety and environmentally friendly (no chemical solutions)

Galvanic type

  • Initial cost-effective
  • Can use with Guide pipe fitting

  • Optical Dissolved Oxygen Sensors DO71/DO72

It is a fluorescent dissolved oxygen sensor that is easy to clean and stable for long term measurement. Sensor replacement is easy on site and reduces maintenance costs. It is possible to measure oxygen in a wide range including low concentration measurement.
Suitable for use in water treatment plants such as sewage treatment plants and wastewater treatment plants under severe measurement conditions.
Can be used in combination with FLXA402 liquid analyzer by digital communication.

  • Optical Dissolved Oxygen Sensor, Hamilton VisiFerm

Hamilton's VisiFerm is the first optical sensor ever for the measurement of dissolved oxygen that has significant advantages compared to classical Clark cells because there's no electrolyte needed and the luminophore is embedded in a robust sensor cap. Typical applications are biotechnology, water treatment and monitoring as well as in breweries, wineries and soft drink processing.

Descripción General:

When used to measure the dissolved oxygen in an aeration tank, sensors tend to quickly become contaminated and need frequent cleaning.

Descripción General:

Removal of free oil and grease from a wastewater stream reduces the potential for equipment problems to occur further downstream. There are three forms of oil encountered in wastewater treatment at a refinery.

Descripción General:

The detectors used to perform dissolved oxygen (DO) measurement in oxidation ditch type sewage treatment plants tend to become dirty quickly and require frequent cleaning.

Descripción General:

Having too much oxygen in the process is not a problem for the biological system; however the cost for generating the oxygen is one of the largest expenses. By obtaining a good representative average of the dissolved oxygen present in the basin could save the plant large amounts of money. For this reason multiple measurements points are sometimes put into place.

Descripción General:

In a batch tank, analyzers such as dissolved oxygen (DO) analyzers, oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) meters, and mixed liquor suspended solid (MLSS) analyzers are used. To reduce the maintenance frequency, measures must be taken to prevent dirt accumulation on the sensor. As the liquid level in a tank can vary greatly, great care should be taken when selecting the sensor installation position in a tank.
