How to Effectively Use Recipe Management in Your Process

Managing temperature control processes in heat treat applications can be tricky, especially when changing the setpoint on large or expensive parts. Depending on the material the parts are made of or if the parts are in a critical stage of the heat treatment process, arbitrarily changing the setpoint could damage the parts or ruin the metallic properties you were hoping to obtain.

Most modern controllers have features that allow for controlled setpoint changes to prevent such damage but many times they are not used. We hope to educate you in the proper use of setpoint ramping and ramp/soak control so your furnace can run more efficiently and you can maximize the use of your personnel by not having them babysit the process.

You will learn:

  • Managing temperature control processes in heat treat applications
  • What is recipe management
  • What is setpoint ramping and why it is necessary in temperature control processes and when you should use it
  • How do ramp/soak segments work
  • What is a guaranteed soak and when would you use it
