What Is a Coriolis Flow Meter?
By using motion mechanics, Coriolis flowmeters measure the rate at which given masses of corrosive and clean liquids and gases flow through a tube. A Coriolis meter directly measures the mass flow rate with high accuracy while simultaneously measuring density, temperature, volumetric flow rate, and concentration.

What are ROTAMASS Total Insight Coriolis Mass Flow and Density Meters?
ROTAMASS Total Insight (TI), Yokogawa’s Coriolis mass flowmeter, provides very high accuracy for measuring liquids and gases while adopting the Total Insight concept and totally supporting the product lifecycle.
From the direct mass flow, density, and temperature measurements, with ROTAMASS TI you can calculate:
- Volume flow at operating or reference conditions
- Density at reference conditions
- Concentration measurements of mixable or unmixable fluids
With additional measurement input, ROTAMASS TI can calculate fluid viscosity for Newtonian liquids or energy-heating value for gas measurement.

What Are the Benefits of a ROTAMASS Total Insight Coriolis Meter?
Regarding the vibration noise from the pipeline, the “box-in-box” design of the ROTAMASS TI isolates the flow tubes from the process connection. By absorbing the mechanical noise or any external forces from misalignment from the pipeline, it delivers an excellent zero stability and final flat accuracy. The ROTAMASS TI performance made it possible for the customer to make process improvements, which resulted in higher efficiency between the fuel consumed and the power generated. It was a major improvement over the prior metering system.
Further digitalization support by Total Insight includes compatibility with SensPlus™ Buddy, which is a communication support service for providing support to sites from a remote location using a mobile device. Its operation is intuitive, and it enables visual transmission by video calls and augmented reality (AR) as well as information sharing by sending images and text. Smooth and accurate communication using SensPlus Buddy improves the efficiency of maintenance work and reduces losses due to mistakes. Yokogawa's Coriolis Mass Flow and Density Meters was sold worldwide in 1993 as ROTAMASS.
The first ROTAMASS was a product that improved noise resistance by adopting a self-drain structure that reduces fluid accumulation, and a Box-in-Box structure that greatly reduces piping noise and flow noise.
