Tokyo, Japan - June 13, 2013
Yokogawa Meters & Instruments Corporation announces that it will release the CA700 pressure calibrator on June 14. A highly accurate portable calibrator, the CA700 features a variety of functions that enable the efficient calibration of pressure/differential pressure transmitters and other types of field devices.
Plants typically have many field devices such as pressure/differential pressure transmitters and pressure switches that need regular calibration to maintain their measurement accuracy. A pressure calibrator is a type of measuring instrument that can be used to calibrate such field devices on site.
As the result of a growing awareness of the need for safety and stability in plant operations, increased attention is being paid to the maintenance and inspection of field devices. Thus, there is a strong need for calibrators that operate efficiently and perform to a high standard. The calibration of high-precision field devices requires calibrators that deliver greater accuracy and high performance. Yokogawa has developed the CA700 pressure calibrator to meet these needs.
- Best-in-class accuracy
Equipped with a silicon resonant sensor that uses proprietary Yokogawa technology, the CA700 can measure pressures with an accuracy that is within ±0.01% of rdg* , making it one of the most accurate portable calibrators on the market. It can also output and measure current and voltage within ±0.015% of rdg. Thanks to this exceptional accuracy, the CA700 is suitable for testing both pressure and DC input/output, which is essential for calibrating pressure transmitters and other devices. The CA700 is the only pressure calibrator in its price range that can generate and measure both current and voltage.

- Functions that improve calibration efficiency
For more stable and efficient calibration, the CA700 is able to store the calibration procedures for pressure transmitters and switches in its internal memory. It also records data and error rates before and after calibration. The stored data can be used for purposes such as analysis of device performance and determination of maintenance frequency, thus improving device maintenance.
- Wide measurement range
The CA700 comes in three models with different measurement ranges: −80 to 200 kPa, −80 to 1000 kPa, and −80 to 3500 kPa (kPa: kilopascal). Users can thus choose the model with the desired measurement range, eliminating the need for the purchase of multiple calibrators.
Major Target Markets
Oil, gas, petrochemical, chemical, iron and steel, pulp and paper, electric power, and water supply and wastewater treatment industries
For commissioning or regular inspection with the following:
- Pressure/differential pressure transmitter and pressure switch calibration and input/output testing
- Tanks and pipe airtightness testing
- Electropneumatic converter operation checking
Yokogawa's Approach to the Calibrator Business
In 1988, Yokogawa released its first calibrator for the maintenance and inspection of plant field devices. It was based on technologies that had been acquired through the development of high-precision measurement instruments used in electrical equipment R&D and production line testing. Since then, the company has introduced a variety of calibrators for instrumentation signal (direct current and voltage), temperature, and pressure applications. Yokogawa will now follow up on its release of this high-precision CA700 pressure calibrator by continuing to develop new products that improve efficiency and quality in plant maintenance and inspection.
