Career stories - Patricia Alcaide

“Work environment is the best I have ever known, and people are always willing to share knowledge and help their colleagues.”

How would you describe your job and role at Yokogawa?
In my current role I coordinate the EPC business within the PCI Department.
Our team has the responsibility to provide the customer with technical experience and support. As sales engineers, we strive to achieve the company objectives; nowadays it’s quite challenging to get clients’ trust and have them placing orders with us, so the balance between technical knowledge and good service that we can provide, is becoming more and more relevant. In addition to drawing-up proposals, we also work as project managers, bearing the responsibility of project developing, minimizing cost, reaching delivery deadlines, in-line with customer requirements and obtaining the goal profit.

What is the most remarkable thing you have done at Yokogawa so far?
I studied Chemical/Process Engineering at the university and in 2015 started my career with Yokogawa in the role of Internal Sales Engineer. Recently, my technical knowledge shifted more into the background as I have improved other interpersonal skills like communication, negotiation, motivation, team building… Last month I have been promoted to a new position, coordinating the PCI EPC business, thus the most remarkable thing I have done is gaining the confidence of my manager and the team.

Why should talented people consider Yokogawa as a potential new employer?
Yokogawa combines different profiles in the same place, you can learn new things, develop different skills every day. Work environment is the best I have ever known, and people are always willing to share knowledge and help their colleagues; teamwork is one of the most important Yokogawa values (1 + 1 = 11). Knowledge, people and work-life balance are the reasons to choose Yokogawa as your new employer.

Yokogawa values 'quality of life' for their employees. How do you experience that in real life?
Yokogawa contributes to the improvement of the quality of living of its employees. Flexible work schedule, social benefits and work-life balance are examples of the values Yokogawa is paying attention to.
Because of flexible schedule, I can combine my work, take dance classes, go to the gym or improve my English. Also, social benefits as kindergarten aid or reduced workday due to maternity will become important in my future; the very issues our company is involved with as well.  For an employee like me, such conditions make Yokogawa a good employer and a great place to work.
