Career stories - Maurizio Zoia

“My mission is to motivate the sales force, expand our footprint through new solutions, applications and explore new markets.”

How would you describe your job and role at Yokogawa?
In 2014 I joined Yokogawa as Country Service Manager, then in 2018 I have been appointed in a role of Domestic Solutions & Service Manager. My task is to further develop the new system sales for the local market and after-sales (Service Lifecycle) for system & product departments. In fact, my mission is to motivate the sales force, expand our footprint through new solutions, applications and explore new markets.
I encourage my team to find a way to change the organization mindset, to move away from "we have always done it like this" and so I also review how to move forward as an organization and use the talent of individuals to achieve the group's results.

What is the most remarkable thing you have done at Yokogawa so far?
Over the past five years, I have introduced many changes in my departments through small single actions. In the past the definition of “advanced services’ hasn’t been as clear, but our awareness, understanding and consequently the promotion of solutions, had considerably grown since and lead to good results. Most importantly, we have restructured our service departments, introduced some new roles, new resources and (especially in product service) changed the organization's mindset from reactive to proactive, by that doubling the results in some specific areas. Now a new big step awaits us... to introduce our systems and solutions to markets which are not traditional for us, using new channels.

Yokogawa values 'quality of life' for their employees. How do you experience that in real life?
The importance of the quality of life of employees is something which can be very appreciated in Yokogawa, above all, if, as in my case, we come from another experience.
Despite great margins and results in after-sales, we are facing some challenges regarding high workload; but I am confident we will tackle this too, as any other challenge thus far!

Why should talented people consider Yokogawa as a potential new employer?
Because Yokogawa is a small big family, different (and probably unique) from many other multinational companies, where “ample space” is given to new ideas (speaking from own experience) and where people with deep knowledge and enthusiasm can be found.
