Meet Mark van Otterlo, the new Managing Director of Yokogawa Netherlands, and Belgium

Amersfoort, April 30 2023. From the first of this month, Mark van Otterlo takes over from Peter Roodenburg and is officially the new Managing Director of Yokogawa in the Netherlands and Belgium. Within the same company, where both men have been employed for many years, a new challenge has been presented.

Mark van Otterlo has been working in the process industry since 1994, but for those who do not yet know him, who is Mark and what are his motivations?
In his spare time, Mark is quite fond of traveling and his heart beats faster for motorbikes. But above all, he has a passion for digitalization and innovation - both privately and professionally. This is also reflected in his previous position where, as Executive Director of Yokogawa Europe, Mark led business expansions for Europe. With his team, he offered innovative solutions to improve operational efficiency. In doing so, the focus was increasingly on service delivery; helping clients move on to the next level with knowledge and experience. Mark's experience within Yokogawa, from assembly employee, lead engineering, and project management to operational and sales management, helped him achieve this.

Frontrunners in the energy transition and circular economy
Mark's new role within Yokogawa begins at a time when the industry is facing the challenge of major steps toward renewable energy and circular recycling. What’s special is that the Netherlands is one of the frontrunners in these areas. And Yokogawa is working hard to achieve this! Not without reason, laying a foundation for a sustainable future is one of Yokogawa's key missions.

Together with partners such as Energy Transition Campus Amsterdam, we are already deploying innovation and technology to achieve net-zero emissions. As the Main Automation Contractor (MAC) of the largest green hydrogen plant in Europe that Shell is building. And with products that reduce carbon emissions. But also measurement instrumentation used for the efficient and safe deployment of wind turbines. Or an energy monitoring system for fast energy and carbon reduction. And we are even exploring how plants can reuse each other's energy/emission and waste streams and better regulate the distribution of seasonal energy demand patterns in the Rotterdam area.

Together towards a more sustainable industry
Great developments contribute towards sustainability in our rapidly changing market situation. Even though the need to transform is growing more urgent by the day, Mark is excited to embark on this task! He believes it's critical that we work together to actively pursue the future in this situation. Together, we are more knowledgeable and productive.
