On the VJP1, if the output signal is a contactless AC switch (DC power connection), is a ”spark suppression diode” (spark killer) mandatory?

It is required for inductive loads, but not for resistive loads.
A ”spark suppression diode” (spark killer) is connected to suppress the back EMF (surge) generated when opening and closing an inductive load circuit.
