We also strive to build an environment where every employee resonates with Yokogawa’s Purpose, feels empowered to take on new challenges, and is supported in realizing their individual career aspirations.
By fostering a culture where each employee finds purpose and fulfillment in their work and can continue to grow, we aim to achieve sustainable development for both our people and our organization.
Leadership Development Programs
Empowering Individual Growth through the Yokogawa Leadership Competency
At Yokogawa, we believe that the development of our people is the driving force behind our continued growth. Central to this belief is the Yokogawa Leadership Competency (YLC) framework, which supports the growth of every employee across the Yokogawa Group.
The YLC serves as a “compass” to help individuals discover their unique leadership styles and strengths, while enhancing the competencies—behaviors that lead to results—needed to thrive in their roles.
This framework is embedded across all aspects of our talent management practices, including recruitment, performance evaluation, and development. It also fosters a shared understanding of the qualities we value in our people and the kind of talent we aim to cultivate at Yokogawa.
Developing People Managers Who Empower the Future
To drive sustainable growth in a rapidly changing world, Yokogawa is committed to cultivating “self-driven talent”—individuals who proactively shape the future. Central to this vision is the evolution of our people managers, who play a vital role in unlocking the potential of each employee and supporting their growth.
We have implemented a globally unified development program for people managers, enabling leaders across regions to learn, apply, and grow together. This program goes beyond traditional training by reinforcing capabilities through a continuous cycle of learning and practice.
Through ongoing enhancement and expansion, the program equips our managers with the skills and mindset needed to foster self-driven talent and lead with purpose in a dynamic business environment.
Strengthening Practical Skills through Yokogawa University’s Learning Marathon with Udemy Business
At Yokogawa University, our in-house learning hub that supports employee growth, we offer a Learning Marathon Program designed to strengthen leadership capabilities. This initiative leverages Udemy Business to promote learning around leadership as a key success theme.
Participants engage with curated popular courses, build personalized learning paths, and are encouraged to collaborate through group study. Practical leadership skills are developed through hands-on learning, and tips are shared to help maximize the effectiveness of their learnings.
This program provides an ideal opportunity to nurture the next generation of leaders by combining structured content with real-world application.
Yokogawa Solution Service:Developing the Next Generation of Leaders
Yokogawa Solution Service is committed to nurturing future business leaders through a selective training program designed to prepare participants for executive roles.
This program spans approximately eight months and focuses on equipping participants with the perspective and skills needed to understand the essence of management. It encourages them to think critically and express their leadership vision in their own words.
Launched in FY2016, the program has continuously evolved to reflect changes in the business environment. To date, around 300 participants have completed the training, gaining the confidence and capability to drive organizational transformation while experiencing personal growth.
Yokogawa Xcelerate: Global DX Talent Development Program
Yokogawa has launched “Yokogawa Xcelerate,” a global digital transformation (DX) talent development program designed to support sustainable growth and value creation across the company. This program targets all employees and provides structured learning that incorporates knowledge from both inside and outside the company to build the skills and mindset essential for executing our DX strategy.
Training is organized by proficiency level, enabling employees to progressively acquire knowledge—from basic DX literacy to advanced technical expertise. Delivered through Yokogawa University, the program includes e-learning and live sessions to support self-directed learning. For DX Starters, our goal is for 80% of global employees to complete the training by FY2028.
In addition, we actively promote a culture of learning by sharing the latest technology insights through internal social platforms and webinars. By equipping employees with the knowledge and tools to turn new business ideas into reality, Yokogawa aims to enhance corporate value through DX talent development.
Team and Network
Future Co-creation Initiative
The Future Co-creation Initiative is a cross-functional virtual team reporting directly to the President. It was established to embody Yokogawa’s Purpose, create co-creative networks, generate value that addresses social challenges, and nurture the next generation of leaders—all while remaining adaptable to an ever-changing external environment.
Comprising around 40 young employees primarily from the millennial generation (ages 20–40), the team uses scenario planning techniques to develop "Future Scenarios" as a shared language. Acting as Scenario Ambassadors, they engage in exploratory dialogues that transcend internal and external boundaries, working closely with diverse stakeholders to shape a better future. These collaboratively envisioned scenarios have become powerful tools for intergenerational and cross-industry dialogue.
1.Exploring Future-Oriented Management and Organizational Design
Alongside their regular duties, team members actively engage in dialogue with stakeholders, having built relationships with over 150 organizations and institutions. Serving as boundary spanners, they strengthen the company’s capacity to connect internal and external communities.
The team is also exploring new training programs using generative AI, enhancing dialogue and skills among young employees. These efforts are uncovering the potential of co-creation with generative AI to spark innovation and improve decision-making at both the individual and organizational levels—contributing to a deeper, evidence-based understanding of future-ready management and organizational practices.
2.Expanding the Value Co-creation Network
At the core of our broader outreach is the Green Phoenix Project, an interdisciplinary learning community jointly launched with the Governance & Sustainability Institute at Waseda University and involving around 40 partner organizations.
Through this platform, workshops are held on shared societal and business challenges, such as sustainability, digital transformation (DX), and well-being.
Starting with this future-oriented community, we are steadily expanding a value co-creation network that spans across industries and generations.
The Future Co-creation Initiative continues to evolve as a dynamic platform that connects people, organizations, and society with the future.
