What is an RJC (reference junction compensation) sensor?

A thermocouple welds one end of two dissimilar metals and measures the thermoelectromotive force from a converter terminal. The thermocouple output voltage is affected by the temperature at both ends, so you must measure the temperature of the terminal of the converter to which the thermocouple is connected, and correct accordingly. The sensor that you attach to perform this correction is called an RJC (reference junction compensation or cold junction compensation) sensor.
