Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces that Chika Furukawa, general manager of the Sustainability Promotion Office at Yokogawa, has been named by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) as one of 10 recipients of the 2018 Leading Women Awards. Ms. Furukawa received the award in the Excellence category, which recognizes women leaders for their sustained and outstanding contribution to advancing sustainability in their company. The Awards were announced in Singapore on October 24th at the annual Council Meeting of the WBCSD.

WBCSD is a global, CEO-led organization of over 200 leading businesses working together to accelerate the transition to a sustainable world. The Awards showcase the outstanding business leadership of women in WBCSD member companies who are working towards the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). WBCSD initiated the Awards in 2017 as a contribution to the goals of SDG 5, which aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls by 2030.
Ms. Furukawa has been responsible for overall management of CSR at Yokogawa since 2015. She was appointed as the first head of the company's new sustainability division to accelerate its contribution to the SDGs, and in 2017, she successfully led the establishment of Yokogawa's aspirational sustainability goals for 2050, which are directly in line with the Paris Agreement and the SDGs. She has subsequently set mid-term sustainability performance indicators that have been incorporated as a fundamental element into the company's mid-term business plan announced in May 2018.
