Tokyo, Japan - November 22, 2017

Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces that its subsidiary, Yokogawa Deutschland GmbH, has just received an order to carry out so-called "Detailed Risk Assessments" (DRA) at selected BASF production sites in Asia and America. These Detailed Risk Assessments will cover all aspects of automation security in the field. Recommended actions to improve and implement plant safety will subsequently be formulated.

The contract to perform the Detailed Risk Assessments was signed by BASF SE, Ludwigshafen, and Yokogawa Deutschland. The project started as scheduled in October 2017 and will be completed by the end of 2021.

Yokogawa Deutschland will be responsible for the overall coordination of the project. The field assessments in the Asian region will be undertaken by Yokogawa Engineering Asia Pte. Ltd., which has its headquarters in Singapore. In the United States they will be overseen by the Yokogawa Corporation of America, based in Sugar Land, near Houston, Texas.

Yokogawa is qualified to carry out the Detailed Risk Assessments as an independent service provider. In particular, as a global automation specialist, Yokogawa has access to a worldwide service network with the necessary experts and resources to handle complex projects across different countries. Yokogawa can draw on both essential expertise in operational technology and extensive experience in large-scale international IT security projects.
