Yokogawa Releases New DXAdvanced R3 Data Acquisition and Display Station for Networks

Tokyo, Japan - October 2, 2008

Yokogawa Electric Corporation will release the DXAdvanced R3 data acquisition and display station for networks, which is the enhanced version of the Daqstation series of paperless recorders. Release is scheduled for October 20.

A new customizing function for display and a recording function by facility or batch provide excellent operability and easy data management, for even more efficient monitoring of production lines.

DXAdvanced (DX2000/DX1000)

Development Background

The DXAdvanced is a paperless recorder with built-in panel, and offers integrated display, recording, and communication functions. Two models were released: one with a 5.5-inch LCD panel and up to 12 input channels, and the other with a 10.4-inch LCD panel and up to 48 input channels.

In recent years, paperless recorders which can record measurement data on an electric device have been the mainstream as these recorders have been used to improve maintenance efficiency and the processing of stored data in the production site. In addition, there is a growing emphasis on monitoring operation data and saved history data in production facilities. For these reasons, an important criterion when purchasing a recorder is whether the necessary data can be easily viewed.

Factory automation devices are produced on a batch basis, and operation data is acquired and monitored on the same basis. When every process needs multiple devices, a recorder must be connected to each device and data acquired accordingly, even though multi-channel recorders are increasing. As a result, to manage data for the entire production line, data must be acquired from each recorder, which is laborious.

To improve the efficiency of monitoring production lines, Yokogawa has enhanced the functions of the DXAdvanced data acquisition and display station.

Product Features

  1. Display customizing function
Various screens such as trend display and bar charts are placed to suit the user's facilities. Displaying the data on virtual figures makes it easier to grasp the data intuitively.
  2. Data is acquired independently in each process (multi batch function)
Data acquisition can be started/stopped for each channel. This allows users to independently acquire data in each process in a single DXAdvanced by allocating the channels to the particular processes to be managed.
  3. Open system environment
The product conforms to PROFIBUS-DP*1 and EtherNet/IP*2, the standards for industrial communication protocols. This facilitates the development of multi-vendor systems by using those protocols as a common interface when connecting to devices such as programmable controllers (PLC), temperature controllers, and so on.

Major Target Markets

  • Production sites in industries such as electric power, petrochemical, chemical, iron and steel, pulp and paper, food, pharmaceutical, electricity, and water and wastewater
  • OEMs and set makers

Recording and monitoring of various manufacturing process data of temperature, pressure, flow quantity, chemical composition, and so on

Process Field Bus - Decentralized Peripherals (PROFIBUS-DP) is a standard for communication in the factory automation (FA) field. Assured responses in a specific time and low-cost connections are the main advantages. This standard is a trademark of the PROFIBUS User Organization, and is common in Europe.

*2 EtherNet/IP
Ethernet Industrial Protocol (EtherNet/IP) is a standard for communication, and provides entire management integration from field devices to information systems. This standard is a trademark of the Open Device Net Vendor Association (ODVA), and is common in North America.
