Yokogawa Selected as Main Automation Contractor for LNG Canada Phase 2 Project

Tokyo, Japan - November 4, 2026

Yokogawa Electric Corporation (TOKYO: 6841) announces that its subsidiary Yokogawa Corporation of America has been selected by JGC Fluor BC LNG II Joint Venture (JFJV2) to serve as the Main Automation Contractor (MAC) for the LNG Canada Phase 2 project in Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada. For this project, JFJV2, a joint venture between JGC Corporation and Fluor Corporation, holds overall responsibility for delivering engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction and commissioning services.

Phase 1 of the LNG Canada export facility began producing LNG in June 2025, with facility handover completed in October 2025. Designated by the Government of Canada as a “Project of National Significance,” Phase 2 represents one of the largest private-sector investments in Canada and is expected to further strengthen Canada's role as an LNG exporter and trusted energy supplier to the global market.

The Phase 2 expansion project will add two new LNG processing units, known as Trains 3 and 4, along with an additional LNG storage tank, a condensate tank, a loading berth, and expanded utility and process systems. The project will double the facility's production capacity from 14 to 28 million tons per annum.

As the MAC, Yokogawa's scope includes the CENTUM VP integrated production control system and the ProSafe-RS safety instrumented system, as well as fire and gas systems, process historians, operator training simulators, asset management solutions, advanced applications, cybersecurity infrastructure, and industrial networks.

The integrated automation systems will provide monitoring and control for Trains 3 and 4 and associated utility and common infrastructure. Phase 2 will extend the Yokogawa automation platform already established for Phase 1. The experience gained in Phase 1 along with the reuse of established system architectures, control philosophies, and engineering standards are expected to support greater consistency across the facility, improve the efficiency of project execution, and reduce execution and integration risks.

“Yokogawa is proud to have been selected as the Main Automation Contractor for LNG Canada Phase 2 and to continue our involvement in this important energy development project,” said Koji Nakaoka, Yokogawa Electric executive vice president & executive officer and head of the company's Energy & Sustainability Business Headquarters. “Building on the automation platform established during Phase 1 gives us an important foundation for supporting the next stage of the project. We look forward to working closely with JFJV2 to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient operations and support LNG Canada throughout the facility's lifecycle.”

The award of this MAC contract reinforces Yokogawa's commitment to supporting large-scale LNG development projects through the provision of advanced automation, safety, digitalization and lifecycle solutions, while providing a platform capable of meeting future operational, maintenance, optimization and modernization requirements. Through its contribution to LNG Canada Phase 2, Yokogawa will support the expansion of reliable LNG supply to global markets, including Japan and other Asian markets, contributing to greater energy security and the transition toward a lower-carbon energy future.
