On a DX1000/DX2000, I assigned the Batch function to the FUNC key, but when I press the FUNC key, I do not see the Batch function soft key.

Check if the Batch function is on.
Even if you assign the Batch function to the FUNC key, if the function is turned off, its soft key is not displayed when you press the FUNC key.
