Yokogawa Announces ISO 17025 Accreditation for North American Calibration Laboratory

Yokogawa Corporation of America has announced that its Newnan, GA facility's Calibration Laboratory has been awarded ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation from the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA). Yokogawa was issued A2LA Certificate No. 3474.01 on November 26, 2013. The Yokogawa Calibration Laboratory also meets the requirements of ANSI/NCSL Z540.3-2006 and holds ISO 9001:2008 certification.

Compliance with the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard provides an internationally recognized basis for laboratory accreditation. The standard is used to govern a laboratory's quality management system (auditing and corrective action procedures) and requires adherence to rigorous technical requirements.

Specifically, the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard dictates that a laboratory maintain testing facilities and equipment to a specified standard, adhere to documented protocol, train employees to proper competence levels, validate proper methodology, follow industry standard mathematical methods for calculating uncertainty, confirm that test equipment meets necessary criteria and that all equipment used for accredited calibrations is also, in fact, ISO 17025 calibrated. This equipment must also be calibrated to and traceable to independently maintained national or international standards. An ISO 17025 calibration will always provide both 'as found' and 'as left' performance test data in an approved report format.

Today, the ISO 17025 is the single-most important standard for test and measurement products. It is the global standard for the technical competence of calibration and test laboratories.

Across today's industries, manufacturers who use test equipment are seeking ISO 17025 calibrations for the added assurance that both the products they purchase as well as those that they produce will meet specifications.

"When a customer sends in a unit to calibrate, they can be sure that the calibration has been performed by proven processes, and their unit has been managed by streamlined and repeatable methods," said Aytac Yaraneri, Yokogawa's Laboratory Process Manager.

Yokogawa's calibration facility is used to calibrate a wide range of test equipment, including the WT3000 & PZ4000 power meter line, the DL850 ScopeCorder, and other digital oscilloscopes, each of which is used within numerous industries by a wide customer base within North America.
