I'm inputting 1-5 VDC on the DXAdvanced series and using linear scaling. Can I expand the trend display area by narrowing the upper and lower limit of the scale?

Yes.
If you narrow the lower and upper-limit values, change the lower and upper-limit values of the span accordingly.
