Example: Chemical dosing system in production plantIn Automobile manufacturing, there are many processes that require special equipment/skids to be built to automatic special functions to be more efficient and reduce manpower. These skids are often outsourced to third-party vendors to design a solution for the manufacturer. Although the process may be confidential, these skid builders must create a solution based on limited information.

At this Hydrogen-Powered car manufacturer, the skid builder was asked to design a solution for a process that required chemical dosing of epoxy, hardener, and solvent at certain velocities.

In the design requirements, the resin had to be correctly delivered in the epoxy ejector accurately to avoid potential waste that may result in applying too much or not enough of the correct mixture. Additionally, all the chemicals had to arrive at the same time to the injection nozzle to make the process function correctly. The fluid velocities were critical, if they were not maintained correctly the end product was lost and resulted in excessive cost.
 

Solution

Expert investigation and evaluation
The skid manufacturer had experience with volumetric meters and was considering using turbine meters for this project. After investigation, the turbine blades and gears would suffer and be destroyed by these chemical types, so the manufacturer sought out Yokogawa for their expertise. After a complete evaluation of the skid and design requirements, it was determined that a mass meter would be the best instrument to accurately deliver the correct dosages.

Installation

Successful implementation and achievement made 
The ROTAMASS TI Nano was selected to be designed into the skid to provide the correct chemical injection, regardless of potential bubbles or temperature changes. The skid was constructed with three ROTAMASS TI Nano units, which maintained the precise measurements of each of the three chemical types. After completion, the skid was successful in meeting the customer's expectations and reduced the overall cost of the product by eliminating excess waste and decreasing the manual operation into an automated system.
