Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, PFAS, accumulates in landfills from industrial waste and the disposal of PFAS-containing products used by millions of households.
As water seeps through landfills, it creates PFAS-contaminated leachate, which can infiltrate groundwater or surface water, risking contamination of drinking water sources.
In a landfill leachate treatment project, Yokogawa and its partner Synergen Met achieved over 99% removal of regulated PFAS chemicals, including dewatering and treating the water to produce PFAS-free liquid for on-site dust suppression.
Introducing Foam ARISe, our cutting-edge foam fractionation technology designed to remove PFAS from contaminated water, offering a targeted solution to mitigate environmental impact and safeguard public health, with a compact design for minimal footprint and ease of establishment.
The process utilizes the controlled release of bubbles at specific sizes and frequencies into the water, effectively separating PFAS contaminants and enhancing water removal from the foam to achieve a higher concentration factor.
The treatment system autonomously processes 5,500 liters per hour, ensuring efficient, continuous operation with minimal intervention, making it ideal for large-scale applications.

Water & Wastewater
All water, regardless of its source, has value. However, with water resources being finite, a focus on "One Water" is necessary to maximize every drop within the water system, ensuring a stable supply of clean and safe water. As we consider current and future needs, planning and implementation are critical for long-term resilience and reliability, meeting both community and ecosystem demands. Yokogawa believes water is a human right for all. Thus, contributing to a sustainable water cycle is one of our Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
