Job Growth

In 2021, there were nearly 10 million workers in STEM occupations and this total is projected to grow by almost 11% by 2031, over two times faster than the total for all occupations according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

Higher Salaries

In 2023, the median annual wage for STEM occupations was more than double that of non-STEM occupations. The Bureau of Labor and Statistics reports $101,650 vs. $46,680 USD.

Underrepresentation

In 2021, while 24% of U.S. workers held a STEM occupation, 18% of female workers held a STEM occupation—three-fifths the rate of male workers (30%) according to NSF.gov.
